Newsflash - Another crash for O'Grady

One of Australia's most talented cyclists has again felt the force of the road. Stuey O'Grady crashed out of the Giro d'Italia's (Tour of Italy) third stage this morning. His run of bad luck in Grand Tours has continued with the news that he has broken his collarbone. Fellow Australian and team mate on the Danish CSC team Brad Mcgee has also abandoned the Giro after falling in a race that has been marred by pile ups. This is O'Grady's first Grand Tour since he crashed out of last year's Tour de France is spectacular fashion.

Is this a preview to Beijing?

Is this going to be the scene in Beijing? Vanessa Fernandes this weekend torched the field in the European Championships sounding a clear warning to the rest of the athletes going to Beijing that she is the one to beat. “It was a dream today. There were lots of people giving me strength,” said Fernandes at the finish line. “It is very important for me to show these people in Portugal what triathlon is. I can show Portugal what Portuguese athletes can do.”

Bike ride shocker!

In what can only be described as one very ordinary day for the Sydney bunch that rides Southern Cross Road. The group included 1984 Olympic gold medallist, Kevin Nichols, his daughter Kate Nichols, Olympic silver medalist, Michelle Ferris and 2006 Commonwealth Games champion, Ben Kersten. This incident is a very dangerous one calling into question once again the differences between bike riders and motorists. This morning's incident only highlights how quickly a normal bunch ride can turn into real trouble.
