What Mitch needs to remember is that to do IM OZ with minimal preparation and little spare time due to work committments should be admired. Tony Abbott is balancing life like many Age Groupers do. Well done to Tony and all others who have less time than those at the pointy end of the field, and who are simply happy to participate and enjoy the battle

Jeez everyone, what happens to people on web forums, we dont hold back do we? Would we have the balls to say some of these things face to face? I doubt it somehow.

Awesome is the only word for this show..gee Jack, Matt, what's up? Put the training on hold for ten (yes just ten) minutes, crack open a beer and rekindle the lost art of laughing out loud. Remember..it it ain't fun it ain't worth it.

A couple of points of clarification.
We developed TriCafe to allow for open discussion of current events and debate about the issues prevalent in our sport, and that requires differences of opinion. Whilst we encourage both our contributors and our readers to bring educated opinions to the table, we also encourage those who read or view our content to do so with an open mind and a sense of humour. Not all comments are meant to be taken quite so literally.
For the record, we all applaud Tony Abbott's efforts to partake in an IM, particularly given the demands of his role. We are entitled to jibe the guy, or more correctly, his press team and us, for refusing our request for an interview.
We're all pretty passionate about the sport of triathlon; we simply ask that your interaction on the site is constructive and respects the different opinions of those who work bloody hard to bring you something less than bland.

CONGRTUALTIONS TO GEORGE from Degani - you have put a lot back into the sport of triathlon and cycling and you deserve this new superstore to be extremely succesful.Best of luck.

OK, I read the comments first, then watched the clip to try and find what was so offensive .. and couldn't.

Firstly, TriCafe would be dull and uninteresting without Mitch there. Second, I pretty much agreed with everything he said. What might sound like whinging to you is just opinion. I don't agree with everything that's going on within triathlon, why should he ? Or should we be expecting him to toe a PC line because he's in the public arena (heaven help us if it comes to that.) ?

But worse, why the venom ? Aside from the personal attacks being a long way off the mark, I'm constantly flabbergasted at the rage people can whip up from behind the protection of a router and an anonymous identity.

Keep it up Mitch, I'm not watching TriCafe to have my own opinions reinforced, quite happy for them to be challenged ...

Mitch, Time to learn. Some styles of humour work in the media and some don't. At present yours doesn't. It doesn't matter whether it was Tony A or Belinda Grainger. What you say and how you say it is important. For a 'Pro' athlete operating on the periphery of the action at present, you should know better as you never know what potential sponsor is listening.
Respect for any working triathlete juggling a career, family and training for an ironman will get you a lot further than bagging them. Whether your respect is real or pretend is yours to decide, how it is recieved is what matters.

Hi Jack,
I don't think the irony of the way you have written your feedback in it's content, grammar and style, will be lost on any reader.

My apologies for your taking offence at my Tricafe caricature, where we need three different personalities as counterpoints in the show.
best
Mitch

Mitch.....your closing comment....You stay classy.... Thats something YOU lack.... stop whingeing and whineing..... Learn to swim..... Learn humility.....You really arent even funny...more pathetic......for Tony A to even attempt this race while working full time ++++++ is nothing short of admirable.... as for yourself..... how much of the publics money to educate you to be a medico are you going to repay to the public....get a real job, train and then you can criticise others
