Bill Davoren on a golden day

Monday, 18 August 2008

While Australian Triathlon Head Coach Bill Davoren found himself cheering from the sidelines, his charges set about creating history. The team is now one step closer to fulfilling the A+ scenario at the Beijing Olympic Games - the Olympic Tri double. With both Emma Snowsill and Emma Moffatt doing the business in the women's race today, the Australian is over the first hurdle. With the men set to race tomorrow, the biggest challenge lies ahead. We spoke to Bill in the midst of Gold and Bronze medal euphoria.

Chrissie Wellington takes a shot

Thursday, 14 August 2008

Chrissie Wellington is simply an amazing athlete. Racing her first Ironman at Kona last year she ended her first day as the new world champion. Since then, she's gone on to set the Ironman world alight, winning all four of the races she's entered. She also had a staggering second overall (yes, that's over the field) at the recent Alpe d'uez triathlon. But all this success hasn't necessarily been a smooth ride for Wellington. With it has come those who question whether she is racing clean, a source of annoyance for her as she tells us. We caught Chrissie as she was about to get out on her bike for another training ride.

The boys also lift the lid on whether technology is a good thing and the pressures of earning a living from sport. The man they call 'Shorto' is powerful runner and at age 38, is still someone to fear on the marathon at any Ironman in the world. We caught up with Jason and found out there is still more to come in his amazing career.

5 minutes with Tour's Matt Keenan

Tuesday, 01 July 2008

Let's be honest and say that Matt Keenan is not a household name .... yet. Over the past two European seasons, Matt has quietly gone about his trade as one of the few English speaking cycling commentators in the world. Matt's cracked the big-time now, co-commentating SBS's Tour coverage alongside the biggest names in cycling, including the likes of guru Phil Liggett, and working on some of cycling's other top races, including Paris-Nice and the Vuelta (Tour of Spain). We hit Matt with a few quick questions about the Tour, this season's hopefuls and whether this Tour will be a drug-free one.

Anderson 2nd to McKenzie in Japan

Sunday, 22 June 2008

So put yourself in Mitch Anderson's shoes. You've done the training, you've tapered well and all you have to do is get out there and race well in order to maybe win your second Ironman title. Well it was going well until Mitch was sent the wrong way during the marathon. So that might've ruined his day but fellow Australian Luke McKenzie also had a hand in making Mitch's trip to Japan a little more painful. To Mitch's credit he was his usual philosophical self and let's us in on his day and what happened out there on the run course.
