After the ITU race in Madrid it was all down to this weekend's World Titles in Vancouver for the last spot in the elite Top 8. A spot there meant three competitors in the Olympic Games instead of two. Unfortunately for the Australians it was not to be as the Russians and the U.S outperformed and prevailed to make it into the coveted group. Bill Davoren, Head Coach of the Australian Olympic team had a chat to us about how all this unfolded and what it means going forward.

Kate Allen, last chance saloon for Beijing
Kate Allen is known to most Australians. For those who don't know she is the athlete who stormed home to pass a fading Loretta Harrop to win the Olympic Gold Medal. 2008 sees Allen facing a new challenge. The crash that almost ended her Olympic campaign is shrouded in controversy but Allen remains focussed on the job at hand. This week's World Championships sees Allen facing a last effort to get her spot into the Games team. Nick Warren from Zoom productions has been working with Kate and tells us how the defending Olympic Champion is faring some 60 days out from the games and less than a week away from the worlds.

Bill Davoren is a man with plenty on his mind. Last weekend was a disastrous one for the Australian Olympic Triathlon Team. Good results for both Russian and U.S teams mean that the strength of the Australian team could be compromised. We caught up with Triathlon Australia's High Performance Director waiting for his flight out of Madrid, one he was probably happy to take. We get the inside word on what happened in Madrid, how the team now shapes up, Brad Kahlefeldt's injury and the up and coming world titles in Vancouver.
