Mt.Buller Mountain Bike Festival
The inaugural Bike Buller MTB Festival has concluded, with riders of all levels competing in several events over the weekend including the 25km Corn Hill Crankfest cross country event, the hair-raising 6km Super-D cross country downhill and the 50km Stirling Circuit on Sunday morning.

The race that the triathlon world wanted finally occurred as we all all held our collective breaths and waited for the battle of Singapore. This race was always going to be about Alexander and McCormack, the two form athletes from the last two seasons. The sport of triathlon is in need of a rivalry and this was the perfect setting for that to be exercised. Alexander has been slowing warming up this season with a win in Geelong and a second at Husskinson whereas Macca hasn't been sighted this season.

The Catani Gardens in St.Kilda is the spiritual home of triathlon in Melbourne. It's a perfect setting for a triathlon and today it saw 2500 athletes out and about with all happy the weather cooperating unlike Race 1 where the swim was postponed. The elites turned out in force with the last chance saloon for a win before many of them look to head overseas. Top of the tree in this event was Gareth Halverson and Jamie Huggett. The women were looking set for another Oldfield/Turner battle but this was about to be upset.

Milano Sanremo is a an epic. 298km of pain with the grand old Poggio climb the last challenge of the day. Then the race sweeps into Sanremo with the bunch coming into the finish with their on fire. It has become a much sort after Classic for many riders. The Honour Roll of this race reads like a who who of the cycling world with names like Cancellara, Cipollini, Zabel and Fignon. The tifosi (Italian fans) are mad for this event and when an Italian wins there is usually partying in the streets. This year saw a new name to add to this group.

70.3 racing has already been responsible for some great racing in it's short history. Of course the Half Ironman concept has been around for awhile but the 70.3 series is capturing the hearts of not only triathletes but sport lovers world wide. And nothing fuels this interest like a good old rivalry. Think back to the biggest rivalry in triathlon history and you immediately think of Mark Allen and Dave Scott.
