Sam Hume - Mission Accomplished

We had a chat to Sam Hume pre Kona. He was quietly confident of racing well but very much unsure of who he might be matched up against given that it is pretty tough to check up on the age group. The snapshot is a study in how to have an awesome day in Kona. He finished 27th overall, 2nd in his age group, 2nd amateur overall and 2nd Australian. He also cracked 9 hours and ran sub 3 hours. Chrissie Wellington confirmed she just may be the best ever while Craig Alexander continued the Australian winning run on the lava fields today. The day was an epic with soaring temperatures and the usual wind ever present. For Wellington an early mechanical hiccup lead to a day where she was clearly above anyone in her race whereas 'Crowie' raced an intelligent race to end up on top.
